No trip to Seville would be complete without enjoying some tapas and a cold beer on the edge of a crowded bar. However, in a city with 4000 bars, it might be difficult to make a choice. Here we have gathered a few locals’ favourites to help you make your decision:
Bar Garlochi
This guarantees to be nothing you’ve ever experienced before. Upon entering Bar Garlochi you will find yourself in a peculiar shrine to Semana Santa (Holy Week). There is not one corner of the bar which is not covered in statues and paintings paying tribute to religious figures. Not to mention, don’t leave without trying the bar’s iconic drink, Sangre de Cristo (Blood of Christ), a mixture of whisky, grenadine and vodka.

Cervecería Giralda
As the name suggests, Cervecería Giralda is at the foot of La Giralda. This is the bell tower that is one of Seville’s most emblematic monuments. Here you will be able to taste some of the most typical ‘tapas’ of the region accompanied by an exquisite selection of wine or the typical ‘caña’ (beer). Furthermore, you can choose to sit on the terrace in the shadow of the Giralda or move inside where the ceramic tiles that cover the walls echo the building’s history as an Arab bathhouse.

Cinco Jotas
Cinco Jotas’ black label is distinguishable across Europe as the producer of the highest quality Iberian ham. The menu features a very large variety of ham prevalent from the small village of Jabugo in southern Andalucía. Notably, it is considered by many sevillanos as the best ham in the city.

Bodega Santa Cruz (Las Columnas)
No bar breathes culture and tradition more than the Bodega Santa Cruz, popular among locals and tourists alike. On the famous Mateos Gago street, locals refer to it fondly as ‘Las Columnas’ (‘the columns’, you’ll understand when you go). Don’t be surprised if you have to battle your way in through the crowds on a Saturday evening, the fresh beer and tapas on the other side are worth it!

Casa Anselma
Looking to enjoy some flamenco singing and dancing by true sevillanos whilst you enjoy your tapas and beer? Look no further than Casa Anselma. In the traditional neighbourhood of Triana, this bar opens its doors at around midnight and promises a night of art, good company and fantastic food.
